Captains Letter

ATTENTION CAPTAINS!

Welcome to Wildcatz Indoor Sports. As the team captain you will play a vital link between Wildcatz Indoor Sports and your team. The more organised you are, the more efficiently your team will run. If you ever need help or assistance, please ask one of our co-ordinators or management team. We hope you enjoy yourself at Wildcatz Indoor Sports. Good Luck and most importantly have a whole lot of fun!!

1.       Player Registration and Qualification
At the commencement of the season you will be required to make sure that all players details including mobile phone numbers and email addresses are up to date and accurate. This is to make sure that players can always be contacted. This information, along with a nomination form, must be provided by the commencement of the new season. Before each game you must complete the player log in process for your team at any of the ‘Player Log In Terminals’ located at games control. If ever you are unsure or have a question, please do not hesitate to ask one of our staff members for assistance. Players who have not been selected will be deemed to have not played the game. Please be aware if the wrong players have been selected or if players have not been selected at all this may cause unnecessary disruptions during your game. This data will also be used as a check for player qualifications for the finals series. Any player participating in the finals series must have played a minimum of 5 games for your team during the regular season. Please note that no player can represent 2 different teams in the same division for finals.

2.       Game Times
It is crucial that your team is ready to play at the scheduled game time. All teams will be required to arrive 10 minutes prior to the game time commencement. This is to ensure that your team has been logged in correctly and completely, and to ensure all game fees are paid prior to the commencement of the game. Penalties will apply for teams who do not begin games on time. These will be in the form of run or goal penalties. Remember that all teams play late games so when it’s your turn you will be very appreciative if the teams playing before you have started on time. Game times for the following week will be placed into your folder (or match payment slip) each week at the games control station. If there is no game schedule in your folder or slip, your team will need to check with staff for your next week’s game time. Emails will be sent with your game time to all players who provide their details, however it is your responsibility to obtain times and advise all team members of their game times each week.If for whatever reason you have forgotten your game time you can give us a call at the centre between 9am and 9pm weekdays, send us an email querying the time or have a look on our website. There are between 4 and 6 available time slots for games at Wildcatz Indoor Sports, depending on which sport you are playing. Over the course of the season, ALL teams should expect an even share of ALL time slots. If your team in unavailable for the early time slot due to work commitments, please let a coordinator or management member know. However, if your team does not wish to play the final time slot, you should expect DOUBLE of the amount of the previous game’s time or more byes. A team’s unavailability to play this time slot unfairly gives other teams an unbalanced share of times.

 3.       Forfeits
When your team registers to play at Wildcatz Indoor Sports you have every right to expect a game each week. It is for this reason we take a very serious view of game forfeits. If some of your team is unavailable it is your responsibility to find replacement players. Management may be able to assist in contacting fill in players (given due notice) if necessary. By all means contact us in the event of a problem but do not expect to be able to forfeit.Forfeit Penalties

·        If a BYE is requested the previous week or earlier, no penalty will apply

·         A forfeit more than 48hrs before your scheduled game will incur an 8 point penalty from your premiership ladder

·         A forfeit less than 48hrs but more than 24hrs before your scheduled game will incur an 8 point penalty as well as a full game fee

·         A forfeit less then 24hrs before your scheduled game time will incur an 8 point penalty as well as a DOUBLE GAME FEE

4.       Points System
Currently, a skins system is played in cricket at Wildcatz Indoor Sports. This system is now going to be adopted by netball and soccer also. This is to add more interest to each game so that you have something to work towards each quarter. For each quarter (skin) you win you will receive 1 point. You will also receive 4 points for the highest final game score or 2 points if the final game score is a tie. If the scores in a particular quarter are a tie, the following quarter will be worth 2 points. In the event that the last quarter is a tie, the point will be allocated to the team who won the previous quarter.

5.       Player Behaviour
THERE WILL BE ZERO TOLERENCE OF ABUSE OF UMPIRES, STAFF AND UNSPORTMANLIKE CONDUCT.We pride ourselves on providing a fun, social atmosphere where participants can come and enjoy a competitive game of sport and relax in the social surrounds of the game. It is for this reason that verbal or physical abuse of staff members, umpires or opposition players will not be tolerated. We also expect you to treat all other players in the same manner as you would wish to be treated yourself.Any verbal abuse towards our staff, umpires, opposition players or spectators will incur a 2 week suspension from Wildcatz Indoor Sports. Physical abuse towards our staff, umpires, opposition players and spectators may result in a seasons suspension or life ban from Wildcatz Indoor Sports. If you have a question or concern, please talk to a coordinator or member of the management team immediately and we will assist where and if possible. At the end of the day we are here to help you and everyone else have an enjoyable game experience.

6.       Collection of Game Fees
This appears to be of concern at varying times for different teams, that is team members not arriving for games resulting in the captain having to pay out of their own pocket to cover the costs, or the team not paying the full game fee that week and becoming in debt to the centre. We have listed a couple of suggestions below that we have seen work in alot of existing teams here at Wildcatz Indoor Sports.
#1.          At the commencement of the season, pay 3 game fees. The first night’s game fee is then paid and each player has the other 2 payments held in credit against nights they may not be available. If not used during the season, the excess credit simply carries over and can get used to cover the last couple of weeks of the season. Simple, but very effective.
#2.          Collect an extra $1 per person per night than required as a form of insurance. This extra dollar then pays for any player that misses a Game. Any money left in the kitty at the end of the season buys a drink or two for each of the team members or gets your team a discount last game fee. Again, very simple but effective. All outstanding game fees must be paid by the commencement of the finals for those sides participating. Any teams not participating in finals must clear any debt before a new nomination will be accepted.

 7.       Uniform Requirements
All teams MUST be in uniform by the 3rd game of the season.  Shirts may be different designs and makes but they must be the same colour. Shirts that are different colours or have different designs, printing or logos will be penalised  (logos/designs less than 5cm sq will be allowed). In cooler weather, jumpers may be worn, but the team uniform must be worn underneath. Singlets and crop tops may be worn. You can also wear skirts or bike pants if you desire. Players are not permitted to turn non-identical uniforms inside out  to hide logos, patches or irregular colours etc. All players who have non matching uniforms will be penalised according to the table below:PENALTIES FOR PLAYERS OUT OF UNIFORM

SPORT PENALTY MAXIMUM
Cricket -5 runs per player -20 runs
Soccer -1 goal per player -3 goals
Netball -2 goals per player -6 goals

In Netball and Soccer games, players are not permitted to wear shorts or skirts with belt loops. You are also not permitted to wear a belt, hard brimmed hat or jewellery whilst on the court. Players are not permitted to play in denim clothing. Players are not permitted to wear steel cap boots on the courts.

8.       Fill In/ Substitute Players
During the course of the season, there will be times when fill- ins are required to make up numbers for teams to take the court. These players, on occasion, may be from a higher division. If this situation arises, it is at the opposition captain’s discretion whether such players can take the court. In netball however, if more than two divisions separate a team and a fill- in player, the fill-in can ONLY play wing attack or wing defence.  Captains should always encourage a game going ahead so all players can enjoy their game experience, but ultimately the final decision is theirs.

9.       Some Other Things To Remember

·         In line with government legislation smoking is not permitted inside the venue. Smoking is only permitted outside the venue at least 4 metres away from any entrance.

·         PLAYERS PLAY AT THEIR OWN RISK!

·         You must wear enclosed shoes on the courts at all times!Once again, welcome to Wildcatz Indoor Sports. We encourage your questions, comments and suggestions.

Please feel free to chat to one of our coordinators or management team at any time. Good luck and have fun!
