Indoor Soccer
Captain and Coach
Firstly, congratulations on nominating your team with The Indoor Sports Arenas. The staff and management wish you luck for the season and hope that all your games be played in a positive, sportsmanlike manner. As the captain, you are the link between the players and the arena. The following notes will give you an understanding of our policies and will assist in a trouble-free season.
Teams
1. A team consists of five players, which includes the goalkeeper, with a maximum of three substitutes. All players including the substitutes must be recorded on the team sheet before the games commencement time.
2. Unlimited interchange applies. However, teams may only make substitutions after a goal has been scored or at quarter time, half time or three quarter time. Goalkeepers can only substitute during the three intervals. The only exception to this rule is in the case of injury and the injured player has to leave the court.
3. In mixed games, if the goalkeeper is female then there must be two other females on the court at all times. The only exception to this rule is in the event of a serious injury to a female player.
Uniforms
1. All teams must be in uniforms (shirts) by the commencement of the third round.
2. Shirts must be of the same colour but may be of different design (with or without collars/sleeves etc.). Shirts turned inside out will be classified as a shirt penalty.
3. Shirts with logos must feature the same logos on all shirts or none at all.
4. Goalkeepers must be easily identified.
5. The penalty for incorrect uniforms will be one goal awarded to the opposing team to a maximum of three goals. The umpire will be the sole judge of uniform infringements and award any penalties by the end of each quarter (allowing for shirt penalties on substituted players taking the court during a quarter).
6. Footwear must be worn at all times. They must be non-marking, flat soled shoes (no dimples, tags or studs).
7. No jewellery is to be worn. Rings and earrings may be taped at the discretion of the umpire.
8. Denim jeans or shorts are not permitted. Players wearing these items will not be allowed to participate in the game.
General
1. The game will consist of four ten minute quarters (4 X 10 minutes), and each game will be allocated 45 minutes time slots.
2. There is no Off-side.
3. Playing the ball back to the goalkeeper is allowed.
4. Players cannot push or propel themselves from the net. This is net abuse and umpires can warn or penalize offending players.
5. The goal key is not part of the playing field.
Start of Play
1. Late start penalties will apply one goal for every three minutes, up to nine minutes.
2. The game is to be started or re-started by a Kick-off from the centre spot. The ball must move in a forward direction.
3. Opposition players must be at least two meters from the ball during Kick-off.
4. A goal cannot be scored directly from a Kick-off, the ball must touch a minimum of one other player.
Scoring
1. A goal is scored when the whole of the ball passes over the goal line through the face of the goal.
2. A goal will be disallowed if an attacking player enters the goal area at any time after scoring until play has been restarted.
3. Any field player may score from any field position as long as the goal area rules are not infringed. Goalkeepers are not permitted to score.
Free Kicks
(All outdoor rules apply to the following additions)
1. Opposition players must be at least two meters away from the ball on all free kicks.
2. Free kicks may not be taken within two meters of the oppositions goal area.
3. The referee may play on if they determine the infringed team has advantage.
4. All free kicks will be indirect. Two team members must touch the ball from an ensuing free kick before a goal can be scored.
Free kicks will be awarded for-
- Charging or attempting a tackle from behind
- Slide tackles or tackling whilst on the ground.
- High feet, if the umpire deems it to be dangerous.
- Pinning a player against the net. The player in possession must be allowed room to move in one direction for at least 5 meters. This particularly applies to players in possession of the ball in the corners of the court.
- Any field player entering either a goal area.
This rule applies to the position of the players feet.
- Net abuse
- Playing the ball into the top net. A deflection save or accidental ricochet from the goalkeeper is an exception.
Goalkeeper
1. Goalkeeper substitution as per "Teams" - Rule 2
2. The Goalkeeper is the only player allowed in the goal area
3. The goalkeeper has five seconds to move the ball out of the goal area before an indirect free kick is awarded.
4. The goalkeeper may not leave their defensive third and may only handle the ball within the goal area.
5. The goalkeeper may not reach outside of the semi circle to get the ball.
If the goalkeeper has their arms outside of the goal area whilst holding the ball, it is not an infringement of the law. In this case the judgement is made relative to the feet. Ball must not be grounded.

1. These must be paid before the commencement of the game.
2. If full games fees are not paid for any round then bonus points awarded for that round will be lost.

Violent or serious aggression of any kind towards fellow players or officials will not be tolerated and will be dealt with in the strongest possible way.
The sin bin (yellow card) as well as send offs (red card) will be used at the discretion of the umpire. An umpire does not need to produce a yellow or red card, verbal notification by the umpire that a sin bin offence has taken place is sufficient. Players sent off or sin binned can not be replaced.
Sin bin duration - 2 minutes
A send off will automatically be a one week suspension.
