Junior Indoor Cricket
Captain and Coach
Firstly, congratulations on nominating your team with The Indoor Sports Arenas. The staff and management wish you luck for the season and hope that all your games be played in a positive, sportsmanlike manner. As the captain, you are the link between the players and the arena. The following notes will give you an understanding of our policies and will assist in a trouble-free season.
Nominating Your Team
To get into a team all you have to do is forward your details to the junior Coordinator or staff at games control. If you already have a team, complete a nomination form and hand to the games control and they will assist you with the weekly procedure and times.
Free Training
Training is also available on weekday afternoons. Check with games control for court availability.
Proof of Age
Proof of age must be shown and acknowledged by the staff at I.S.A. Please ensure that players provide proof (school-card, passport, birth certificate etc.) by their third game to enable the player to qualify and to ensure the team does not suffer by not gaining their game points.
Rules
Below are a few minor rule changes that need to be noted. For all other rules please look up Indoor Cricket.
All AICF rules apply to the junior games from those that follow:
1. Leg-sides: For U8's ONLY, a wide or leg-side will only be called when the ball passes the batters crease totally off the pitch.
2. There are no 6s in U8's or U10's. Only the physical runs will count and it is also possible to be caught off the back net.
3. Balls per over: U8's - 5 balls, U10's - 6 balls, U12's and above - 7balls.
4. Runs for dismissals: U8, U10 = -3runs, U12 and above = -5runs
5. U8's: Only at the discretion of the umpire may a player be allowed to bowl from a shorter distance than the full pitch. Bowlers must still be able to respect the no-ball front-foot ruling.
6. Dead ball - U8, U10: When the bowler is back at his/her normal bowling mark with the ball in hand, the ball is considered "dead". This is to stop further run scoring by the batters. The ball is "alive" again when the ball is bowled.
7. Early running - U8, U10: If the runner leaves his/her crease before the ball is bowled, no "physical" runs will count. Remember, the ball is supposed to be dead until the ball is actually bowled.
8. Third ball - U10 and above: If three balls pass without the batters running, it will be considered a dismissal. The umpire will assist with this rule if players are not aware.
Points - U8's and above
4 points = win 0 points = loss
1 point = skin 2 points = Draw
Qualifications
1. To qualify for a team a player must have played at least 5 games or 1/3 of the current season.
2. For a team to qualify for the finals they must have at least nominated before the first half of the season.
3. Teams that are late to a competition will receive 2 points for each round they have missed.
4. Players must not turn a year older than their age group in this calender year. Eg. U10's must not turn 11 this calender year, U12's must not turn 13 this calender year.
Safety
As safety is of utmost importance, it is essential that medical forms be completed and returned as soon as possible.
If you do get an injury on the court it is important you see counter staff for first aid immediately.
All players should wear protectors at all times on the court (protectors are available from the canteen).
Umpires are mindful of safety and as such, may at times ask players and spectators to move away from the nets. Please be cooperative in these cases. Only coaches are allowed down the side of the courts.
Players and spectators are to remain behind the yellow lines near the nets at all times.
Players play at own risk.
Parents: Children are your responsibility, please ensure all signs are obeyed.
